The Dead Marshes were large marshlands found outside of Mordor northwest of the Dagorlad. It is the site of many battles and the faces of the dead could be seen in their waters.
The Dead Marshes is only referenced in one of the loading screens of the game. Dirhael confesses to Talion after he questions him why he didn't return the other night that he went to the Dead Marshes on a dare. Dirhael says that the faces on the water seemed alive, though Talion just says that it just a mere wive's tale.
